System Requirements
Make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements shown in the following list. If your computer doesn't match up to most of these requirements, you may have problems using the software and files on the companion CD. For the latest information, please refer to the ReadMe file located at the root of the CD-ROM.
- A PC running Microsoft Windows XP (SP2 or higher).
- A Macintosh running Apple OS X or later
- An Internet connection
- A CD-ROM drive
For running the Maya Personal Learning Edition, you'll want to go to Autodesk's "qualified hardware" page on its website at www.autodesk.com/maya (look for Features and Specifications) for the most up-to-date information.
Although you can find specific hardware recommendations on these web pages, there is some general information that will help you determine if you're already set up to run Maya: You need a fast processor; a minimum 1GB of RAM (2GB is better); a "workstation graphics card" for the best compatibility (rather than a consumer-grade gaming video card).
Some suggested setups might be as follows (current at the time of writing):
- Windows or Linux
- AMD Athlon XP 3000+, 2GB RAM, ATI FireGL V5000, 250GB hard disk
- Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, nVidia Quadro FX1400, 250GB 7200rpm hard disk
- Portable system such as the Dell M6300 with Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, 1GB RAM, Nvidia Quadro FX 1600M Graphics, 80GB hard disk
- Mac OS X
- Mac Pro Intel Xeon CPU, 2GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 7300GT, 250GB hard disk, third-party three-button mouse
