Making Connections with the Dynamic Relationships Editor
The Dynamic Relationships Editor, shown in Figure 22-7, can be used to make or break any type of dynamic connections. It could be used to connect fields to objects, particles to emitters, and collisions between objects. It can also be a quick way to view dynamic connections without having to play the animations or pan through the Hypergraph. To make a connection with the Dynamic Relationship Editor:
- Create a particle grid and a Turbulence field. They should not have any connections.
- Choose Windows | Relationship Editors | Dynamic Relationships. This brings up the Dynamic Relationships Editor
- Make sure that the Fields radio button is selected in the Selection Modes section. Select the particle group node from the list of objects on the left side of the

- The particle node will appear in the section on the right with a list of all fields in the scene.
- To connect the particle group to the Turbulence field, select it from the list under the particle group in the right side. It will highlight to indicate that it is now connected and will affect the particle group.
- Create another field in the scene—make it a Uniform field. Notice that it appears in the list under the particle group. You can click that field to highlight it and add it to the fields that affect the particle group. Click either one or both fields to disconnect them from the particle group.
